Sascha Dive is a rare breed. Firstly, he’s a deep house guru but grew up in Germany, a country miles away from the sound’s US birthright. On top of that his knowledge of Afro-American dance is quite impressive for a young white guy who discovered the sound years after it came to fruition. But it’s this passion for deep house and Afro-heavy vibes that has lent to Dive’s success. Dive, the label-boss of Deep Vibes is of the few young European producers responsible for bridging the gap between Detroit and New York’s low-end house movement and Europe’s thirsty ears. Since 2006 Dive has been probing the limits of the style, creating a strain of deepness that blends its old school roots with Dive’s crosspollination of dubby Afro-funk loops, spoken word and intoxicating percussive beats. His first 12’’ series, the three-part Basic Collective EP laid the foundation for Dive’s success and opened the door for collaboration with notable producers such as Federico Molinari, Christian Burkhardt to NY’s DJ Qu. Dive has also received the stamp of approval from deep house godfathers such as Moodymann and Chez Damier – both have even remixed his tracks. Currently, Dive is about to release his first debut album, Restless Nights scheduled to come out by the end of the month.
