After a small break, we’re pleased to be able to serve you up something rather different from house protagonist Bruno Pronsato. The American DJ, producer and live act also runs his own label, thesongsays, and his remit touches on soft-focus sounds from house to minimal to techno. There are shades of jazz, intricate textures and subtle tensions throughout all his work which has also come on labels like Bosconi, Hello? Repeat and Adjunct. There have also been more pop leaning offerings, too, as Public Lover with Ninca Leece, as well as myriad other EPs and full length albums.
Here though, Bruno indulges his love of alt rock, guitar funk and lo-fi bluesy ‘songs’. His 90 minute mix goes from trilling chord led highs to more introverted, slo-mo crawls and is a perfect addition to anyone’s collection for when the 4/4 beats become just a little too repetitive. Expect the odd gem you’ll know – like Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Move on Up’ – along with plenty you wont… essential listening, then, from someone who’s exceptional taste knows no bounds.
