- 038 Satoshi Tomiie

Japanese producer Satoshi Tomiie is a house legend. His involvement in the scene goes waaaay back and includes collaborations with the likes of Future Sound of London, many releases on seminal UK label Renaissance, classic house tracks like ‘Tears’ and the running of his own label, SAW Recordings.  He was also part of the infamous Def Mix crew upon first arriving in New York (and through this relationship he has remixed and worked with the likes of Simply Red, David Bowie, U2 and Mariah Carey just to name a few) and has worked on soundtracks for a number of films including Animatirx… the list of accolades goes on so we are proud to present the man as the mixer of our next AUTBRENNT podcast…

The fine selection Satoshi has turned in could well be released as one of his many famous compilations over the years, it’s that good.  It touches on myriad underground house styles drawn from years in the game – tribal and percussive to start, it slyly works its way into heavier tech territory whilst reaching for the odd soul-fuelled vocal along the way. Julio Bashmore, jazzy notes, deeper beats and even a remix of Guti’s ‘Keep It’  (out next week on Satoshi’s SAW) all make this a rich tapestry of sound you need in your life.
