Almost single-handedly flying the flag for West Coast house music; LA label Culprit has released some of the most scorching nu-school records of the modern era. Since its inception in only 2009, Lee Foss, M A N I K, Adultnapper, Matt Tolfrey, Lee Curtiss have all released on the label, whilst Kenneth James Gibson also served up a tasty tech full length last year. Slow and snaking, vocal and voluptuous, it’s house music for the most heart-warming dancefloors and now the three men behind the label, Andrei Osyka, Brett Griffin and Justin Sloe AKA Droog, have started producing their own sounds, too. Versus Inxec, for example, on the well received tech excursion that was their recently released and collaborative Westbound EP on Crosstown.
For now, though, we’re focussing on the trio as DJs, and as such are happy to serve up the next AUTOBRENNT podcast as helmed by this tactile trio. It’s an eighty minute journey into soupy house depths, disco tinged breakdowns and emotive vocal hooks that’s threaded together with deft precision. There’s always a churning undercurrent brewing below, and for that reason it manages to bundle you up at the start and not let you go until the very last beat… enjoy!
